Take Action to Protect Prevailing Wages
Please take two minutes to email your U.S. Representatives and Senators and ask them to continue to support the Davis-Bacon Act. This is a federal law enacted in 1931 that requires contractors and subcontractors on federally funded construction projects over $2,000 to pay workers the local prevailing wage. Similar to state prevailing wage laws, these laws ensure that all workers—union and non-union—receive fair wages and benefits, preventing contractors from underbidding by lowering wages. More than 40% of the UBC's hours are made possible because of state and federal prevailing wages.
So, what exactly do these laws do for working people?
But these prevailing wage jobs are at risk if our elected officials do not continue to protect the Davis-Bacon Act. Please send a message to your Representative now so we can continue to protect good union jobs for years to come.
